January sometime, 2008.
heyhey folks...
this is a bit of a picture heavy post, but ive been up to an awful lot in the recent weeks thats worth looking at.
firstly...

wootini! i had a solo show opening at wootini gallery in carrboro NC. itll be up until early february, so if youre in the area check it out.

i look so uncomfortable in front of a camera.

some of the fantastic turnout, featuring the now famous and crowd favorite 'girl on the cellphone'.
the show completely sold out, which is great. now i have alot less stuff around my house.
secondly...

the Stan Lee tribute show at Gallery1988 in LA, which i flew out for.

meeting the man the myth the legend. this was one of the biggest hugest nerdiest happiest moments of my life. its on video somewhere, i am outright giddy. i had him sign my copy of amazing spiderman #97, and signed him a copy of my doctor strange print with a thank you note on the bottom.

myself and greg simkins...

brandon bird and myself making stern faces

this is me next door at golden apple comics doing some sketches. this was a good lesson in getting proper sleep
(i was running on none) before attending any event where you might be asked to draw something, so you dont end up totally wrecking some poor dudes drawing of dr strange in a sleepy daze. oops.
anyhoo, if youre in the LA area within the next month, get to that show. its excellent beginning to end. in the spirit of the moment, i ended up purchasing a piece myself. it was next to a piece purchased by joss whedon, so things got a little extra nerdy.

November 28th, 2007. i dunno, morning sometime.
THE NEW STORE IS HERE. you click it right there. you can poke around.
new stuff will be added starting at 2:00PM eastern time.
0. if the server is slow and it takes me 5 minutes to do that, new stuff will be added at 2:05. im not going to throw things up at 1:52, so you dont have to keep refreshing before 2pm (which is why webstores crash). wait till 2:00, hit refresh. nothing? take a deep breathe, hug your dog, get a soda or appropriate refreshing drink, then you may hit refresh again. the store is a gentle new innocent being, dont welcome it to this world by screaming at it and waving your hands like a madman. it will take to alcoholism in its formative teenage years and resent you, making a big scene at your birthday party.
1. you should sign up for a new account... your old account login will not work. its a completely new system, new host, new everything. if you email me wondering why your old login doesnt work, im going to automatically assume you cant read and im going to sign your print "doggles, the dog that wears goggles".
2. NO, you do NOT have to manually add shipping to your cart this time around. this system adds it for you in the checkout process (like a real store!) based primarily on number of items and their size/weight and where its going. you know, as real webstores do.
3. im not amazon.com or ebay, accordingly, i didnt have 300 test subjects running though the store every day for 3 months finding every last bug. i had this kid named allen and my mom, who is actually quite handy in the testing department. if you find a bug, let me know and we will do our best to quickly resolve it. if you find a dollar, its mine, i must have dropped it.
4. if something oversells, i will issue refunds as quickly as possible. we havent tested the site under high traffic, which it SHOULD be able to handle, but surprises are a part of anything. especially magic shows.
good luck everyone,
xo

November 28th, 2007. 2:29am
in a moment very in cue with the comedic nature of my existance, its 2:30 in the morning and my power just went out. apparently some snowy trees fell on some power lines and now im in a dark house with some candles hoping to dear lord the power comes back on before morning so i can sell prints of snowy trees and power lines.. my poor laptop only has 53% remaining battery left. i can enjoy the irony of this. alanis morisette style irony, not irony irony.
November 25th, 2007. 1:39pm
heyhey folks
so as many of you know, my webstore crashed in a magically disastrous manner a couple months back due to the traffic of the on-sale for the new art prints i was releasing that day. accordingly, this meant i had to get a whole new site built so that wouldnt happen again, this took some time. it needed to happen anyway. accordingly, i THINK were about ready to go with the new site. i want to make sure everything is available and shipped well in time for the holidays. so ive got some help lined up to get everything out as quickly as possible, a garage full of tubes and boxes, and some pie leftover from thanksgiving for the purpose of eating and being delicious.
SPECULATIVE ON-SALE DAY: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 28th, 2PM EASTERN TIME.
i will post a link to the store on tiny media empire that morning so that people can sign up for new accounts and otherwise poke around (TRY NOT TO BREAK IT THIS TIME). this MIGHT change, provided how the next couple days go with troubleshooting, i will keep you posted if i push it back.
what will be available...
-the "we were fortunate" triptic sets
-the "theres nothing out there" art prints and wooden prints.
-decemberists, cambridge UK - comes with a fun mini print
-pinback, OKC
-poison the well, OKC
-modest mouse, norman OK
-snow patrol, OKC
first come first served. no holding, no favors. i love you all, but ive been burned too many times recently in that department.
a few things to note about the new store...
1. the store is still paypal only. you can use a credit card THROUGH paypal, but you cant use a credit card directly. YET. thatll come later provided nothing blows up again.
2. the new shopping cart system is not a "its in your cart, its yours" type. it will alert you if you try to check out and the inventory cant meet your order with a fancy pop-up notice and will adjust your cart accordingly.
3. for the sake of fairness, everything is still one per person. its coded into the store now. you wont be able to add more than one of a print to your cart.
4. ive done as many tests and trial runs as ive been able to do, but there still might be problems. it seems weve sorted out all the major ones, but were gonna forge ahead and hope for the best and im gonna spend the next couple days doing more tests and troubleshooting. if you have any questions, feel free to email me.
SHOW AT WOOTINI IN JANUARY.

-in other fun news; on friday, january 11th ill be having a solo show opening at Wootini Gallery in Carrboro, NC. Ill be showing some new paintings and exclusive prints for the show, as well as a selection of older work. Maybe some fun surprises for those who can attend. Itll be up until early february.
Historic Carr Mill
200 North
Greensboro St.
Carrboro, NC 27510
new stuff!

-"we were waiting at the seams, busting but through quiet means."
a monstrous 34x46" four color screenprint. edition of 50.
a few varients exist as one-offs.
the run will be split between myself and mitch at postersandtoys.com.
they will run $100 and will have to ship separately from other prints due to their size, so theyll go on sale at a later date. well keep you posted.

-modest mouse, love as laughter, and man man in norman, OKC.
20x30" three color screenprint. these will be available when the new store launches.
other such n such's

-as ill be releasing the snow patrol gigposter featuring the artwork from the "elk guard" art print from a month back or so, i felt it proper to note that mitch at postersandtoys.com rangled up 3 or 4. theres your last chance for those. get in time for christmas when theres actually a possiblity of an elk finding its way onto your roof. i should ALSO note, that a varient print thats never seen the light of day is on ebay right now as a benefit for gigposters.com, one of the best sites on the internets.
-ive gotten alot of emails asking about subscriptions for this coming year and available spots. to answer that question, im still wrapping up with this past years subbers, who will have the chance to renew. when im ready and theyre all taken care of, any available spots will be announced via this mailing list.
i THINK thats it, though ill prolly come up with something later.
thanks everyone for your patience.

September 21st, 2007. 3:48pm

heyhey folks
well today was interesting. as many of you probably noticed, my store basically imploded due to heavy heavy traffic even before 2pm. my server guy said something like 20gigs worth of bandwidth? accordingly, i couldnt even get in to greenlight any of the items with the stores software. so nobody was sold anything, nothing is sold out.
its almost 2 hours later and its still failing left and right, and is NOT consistent enough for me to go ahead with the sale today. once i figure out a solution to this issue, i will repost a time and date for this sale, or an alternate method of selling them.
please do not email me to ask to reserve a print, as many already have, the torrid whirlpool mess that is my email is the worst way to keep an organized sale on my end and is not the way i want to do it.
just keep your eyes open for notice from myself, and well figure this out. i apologize to anyone who took time out of their day to make it to a computer, or ran home, or gave up their lunch break, or fought a grizzly bear, or whatever. i appreciate the support.

yes, the store is still very much not alive. i will REPOST A TIME/DATE when we figure out the server issues. this is 100% a traffic issue, so we might need to just up our service plan or something. sorry for the hassle!
September 21st, 2007. 2:04pm
yes, the store is crashing due to traffic. there is nothing up yet because even i cant get in. lay off the F5 key.

when i was growing up i spent my summers at this ancient house, which is located on a small lake in rural NH. theres a very isolated sense of light when youre there late at night. it feels like you could light a match and it would illuminate everything around you. but the shadows become immense and deep and anything in them disappears completely. and its a very quiet place, you can hear voices from literally a mile away across the lake, and you can hear them clearly. its strange, i dont know how to explain it or why it stands out so much to me exactly... but i made a print about it.

I. "we were fortunate."
II. "there were no cameras, no helicopters, no sirens for our return."
III."so with a quiet kiss and a single step we had given ourselves to this place."
each print is roughly 8x32", 12 color screenprint..
edition of 80 sets on heavy black paper. $150
sold ONLY as a set of the three. theres about 35 sets left.
due to the very small number available, and my online store being wonky, getting an order through DOES NOT mean the print is secured.
i will keep a very close eye on the sale, but in case of an oversell, ill issue refunds as quickly as possible. i wont be sending confirmations.
if you are about to be cranky about said refund and tear me apart on some messageboard with blinding use of emoticons, please first take a deep breath and a walk. xo
AVAILABLE FRIDAY, SEPT 21st 2PM EASTERN
